The Swim-A-Thon is on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Mandell JCC in West Hartford, CT.

Schedule

 Women’s Registration begins at 3:15pm
Women’s swim times are 3:45-4:15pm and 4:15-4:45pm
Men’s registration begins at 4:30pm
Men’s swim times are 5pm-5:30pm and 5:30-6pm
Adult Swimmers will have 30 minutes to swim as many laps as they can.
Water walkers will have 30 minutes to walk as many laps of the training pool as they can. Children under the age 8 can participate by walking in the training pool. Based on the demand, we can offer one time slot for children and one time slot for adults who want to do walking laps in the training pool.
For parents who wish to participate at first with their children and then afterwards by themselves,  babysitting will be available free of charge.

Registration

 There isn’t a registration fee to participate in this event.
All swimmers have to register via this website before the event. Registration is quick and easy and within minutes you can have your personalized fundraising webpage up and running.
To register additional family members: After you have completed your adult registration, you can choose to register another participant. A child over age 15 should be registered as another adult and is required to raise a minimum of $100. A child between ages 5-14 should be registered as a a child. These children will not have their own fundraising pages. The parents’ fundraising goals should be set at either $150 or $180, depending on how many children register with them.
Children who register under the “child” registration type will not receive their own personal fundraising webpage. Therefore, their parents should edit their own webpages to include their children’s names and/or photo.

Fees and Fundraising

 When swimmers register, they commit to raise a minimum amount of money which has to be raised by the day of the Swim-A-Thon:
  1. Adults aged 15 and above are required to raise a minimum of $100
  2. A parent and one child are required to raise a minimum of $150
  3. A parent and two or more children participating together are required to raise a minimum of $180
When swimmers arrive at the event registration, they will be told if they haven’t completed their fundraising. If there is a shortfall, they will be asked to pay the difference, either by cash or check, in order to participate.
By committing to this event, and pledging to raise money for its success, you are helping raise invaluable funds to help maintain this vital service for the entire Jewish Community of Greater Hartford. With your support, we can ensure that the Mikveh will continue to function as a safe and sacred space. We wish you all the success possible. Train, set and achieve new goals, enjoy the swim… and get all the sponsors you can, so when you take your dip you know that you have helped others will be able to take theirs!
Contributions can be made by credit card on your personalized fundraising page. Your sponsors can select your name from the list of swimmers on our website or you simply share the link to your personal webpage with all your colleagues, friends and family. Even if you’ve never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals. Please refer to the sample letters found on your personal fundraising page center, that explains the charity this swim-a-thon is supporting, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this great cause. Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts! And, as many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.
